Wall Art Olive Green Handwoven Runner Rug

$809.00

Hung on a rail or laid along a hallway, this olive green Moroccan runner doubles as wall art and a hard-wearing floor piece in one handwoven design. Woven on a traditional loom in our Rabat-Salé workshops by Moroccan artisans, its ivory blocks and bars are cut freehand so they drift across a deep moss-green field in a calm, abstract minimalist rhythm. Each runner is made by hand in one hundred percent hand-dyed Moroccan wool, coloured with plant and mineral dyes that give the olive its natural depth. The rug is hand-knotted at ten to sixteen knots per square inch, and the flatwoven reverse reveals fine olive pinstripes on ivory. Both short ends finish in hand-braided cream tassels, and because every piece is woven individually, no two runners come out exactly alike, the small shifts in the shapes are the signature of a genuine Berber weave. Built for traffic, the durable medium pile sits at roughly two centimetres and stands up to daily use in a hallway, corridor, entryway, galley kitchen or stair landing. Custom lengths are available, so you can have it woven narrow for a kitchen run or long enough to carry a full corridor. The olive and ivory palette sits naturally with autumn tones and everyday home decor, and smaller pieces make striking hangings on a bare wall. In a hallway, leave a hand's width of floor on either side so the runner frames the walkway rather than filling it, and let it lead the eye toward a doorway or a stair. The muted green reads as a warm neutral, so it settles easily beside terracotta, brass and raw wood without competing for attention. To keep it looking its best, vacuum frequently, blot spills immediately, and spot clean with cold water and mild soap. A runner pad keeps it secure underfoot, and a professional clean twice a year refreshes the wool. Shipping is always free and included, with each runner rolled, wrapped and sent with tracking, an easy, lasting choice for a new home or a corridor that deserves more character.

Every rug is made by hand in the El Abbassi family workshops in Morocco's Rabat-Salé region. See how our rugs are made
