Hand-knotted to order by the El Abbassi family in their workshops in Morocco's Rabat-Salé region, it carries the Amazigh (Berber) heritage of the Beni Ourain tradition into a bright, confetti palette. The weave is worked entirely by hand on a traditional loom from 100% M'rirt sheep's wool, never machine-tufted. Knot density runs high, roughly 10 to 16 knots per square inch, which is what gives this thick wool carpet the body to hold its shape for decades. Slender tree-of-life branches and a hand-knotted ivory tassel fringe at both ends finish the piece, and small differences in diamond spacing and colour saturation mark it as a genuine handmade creation. The ivory ground keeps the lively palette easy to live with, so blush pink, mustard, teal, cobalt and terracotta accents lift a neutral room without overwhelming it.
