Moroccan Rug, Handmade Slate Blue Kilim Flat Weave
$99.00
This slate blue kilim Moroccan rug is a flat-weave wool carpet that pairs graphic calm with easy, hard-wearing practicality. Hand-woven in the Beni Ourain tradition from premium wool, it brings a grounded, contemporary warmth to almost any room. Each piece is hand-woven by the El Abbassi family in their workshops in Morocco's Rabat-Sale region. Amazigh (Berber) artisans work every rug on an upright loom, then wash and sun-dry it before it ships. The pattern is a striped kilim weave - wide slate blue bands carry brick red comb motifs and ivory blocks, closed by a red stripe at each end. Because the motifs are drawn freehand, no two carpets are exactly alike. Woven from 100% natural sheep wool, the flat weave has no pile, measures roughly 5 mm thick, and is fully reversible, so you effectively get two usable sides. Hand-tied ivory fringe finishes both ends. The slate blue and soft grey ground, warmed by brick red, terracotta and ivory cream, keeps the palette quiet and versatile. Shown as an 8x10 (about 7.4 square metres), it is woven to order in any custom size, from a small area accent up to a large 9x12 or beyond - just share your room measurements. The banded pattern suits farmhouse, boho and mid-century modern interiors, and because there is no pile it lies flat under a low coffee table and layers beautifully over concrete, tile or wood. A kilim is also the practical choice for hallways, dining rooms and under office chairs. Care is straightforward: vacuum gently without the beater bar, spot clean with mild soap and cold water, and have it professionally cleaned once a year; rotate it seasonally and keep it out of prolonged direct sun. Standard worldwide shipping is free on every order and included in the price, arriving rolled, wrapped and fully tracked.
