A mustard zigzag rides its black shadow through the centre, twin red lightning bolts strike near the middle, and stacked diamonds, kites and eye-shaped lozenges fill the ground. A black-framed border of checkerboards, flags and crosses composes the whole, closed at both ends with hand-braided cream wool fringe. The craftsmanship is entirely by hand. Long, lustrous wool fibres give the medium pile its signature sheen and a springy softness underfoot, while the natural lanolin in the fleece helps the rug resist stains and last for generations.
