Personalized Gift Black Abstract Moroccan Rug

$99.00

A personalized gift with real presence, this black abstract Moroccan rug turns a floor into a statement. Olive green, ivory and burnt orange leaf forms float across a deep black ground broken by soft taupe curves - a modernist, sculptural piece handwoven by Amazigh (Berber) artisans in Morocco's Rabat-Salé region. Each rug is hand-knotted from 100% natural sheep wool at roughly 10-16 knots per square inch, with a dense shag pile about 1.5 inches high and pale grey tassels at both ends. The wool is hand-washed in mountain water and dyed in small batches, so the black stays deep and the sage and terracotta tones stay soft. That density also makes the pile hard-wearing, so it holds up beautifully in a busy living room. Every leaf is drawn by hand and worked into the pile as the rug is knotted, which is why no two pieces ever match exactly. Small asymmetries in the motifs are the fingerprint of the weaver, not a defect. That one-of-a-kind quality, plus its bold artistic character, makes it a memorable gift for a housewarming, a wedding or anyone furnishing a first home and looking for a piece with a story behind it. STYLING The dark, neutral ground anchors contemporary, eclectic and mid-century rooms alike, and the scattered leaf motifs add just enough colour to tie in olive, rust and cream accents elsewhere in the space. Use it as a living room accent under a low sofa, an eclectic bedroom anchor beneath the foot of the bed, or a bold centrepiece in an open-plan studio. Because the pattern reads as abstract art, you can also hang a smaller size on the wall as a tapestry, where the leaf forms look like brushstrokes on a canvas. CARE Vacuum on a gentle setting without a beater bar to protect the long pile. Spot clean with cold water and a mild detergent, blotting rather than rubbing, rotate seasonally so the pile wears evenly, and book a professional cleaning about once a year for a thorough refresh. SHIPPING Each rug is rolled, wrapped and shipped worldwide with full tracking, and shipping is always free - the price includes delivery, with nothing extra at checkout. Made-to-order and ready pieces alike arrive ready to unroll and give.

Every rug is made by hand in the El Abbassi family workshops in Morocco's Rabat-Salé region. See how our rugs are made
