Moroccan Rug, Handmade Multicolor Abstract Ivory Shag

$99.00

This multicolor abstract Moroccan rug turns a plain floor into the centrepiece of the room, its freehand colour blocks, stripes and organic shapes painted across a calm, undyed ivory ground. Each piece is hand knotted by the El Abbassi family in their workshops in the Rabat-Salé region of Morocco, where Amazigh (Berber) artisans have carried the same knotting traditions across generations. Worked knot by knot on an upright loom, the rug is made entirely from 100% natural Moroccan wool. The dense shag pile is deep and soft underfoot, while the ivory base lets every accent read clearly: pink, magenta, cobalt and turquoise blue, warm orange, emerald green, mustard and deep burgundy. Hand-braided cream wool fringe finishes both ends, a small signature of handwoven craft. Because the design is drawn freehand rather than from a stencil, no two rugs are ever identical. Gentle variations in spacing and colour saturation are the fingerprint of authentic handmade work, not flaws, and they give this Berber carpet the character of a one-of-a-kind textile. This piece measures roughly 9 by 12 feet, a generous size that anchors an open-plan living room, defines a seating area or lays a bold foundation in a large bedroom. The bright, playful palette suits boho, eclectic, farmhouse and mid-century modern interiors, and it warms up neutral walls, pale floors and simple linen bedding without competing with them. Caring for your rug is straightforward. Vacuum regularly on a gentle setting, spot clean any spills with mild soap and cold water, and arrange for professional cleaning about once a year to keep the wool bright. Rotate it occasionally so the pile wears evenly and keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight. Standard worldwide shipping is free on every order and included in the price, with no minimum. Your rug arrives rolled, wrapped and fully tracked, ready to unroll and enjoy.

Every rug is made by hand in the El Abbassi family workshops in Morocco's Rabat-Salé region. See how our rugs are made
