Coastal Home Decor Koi Runner Rug, Green Wool Berber
$809.00
Bring coastal home decor to the most overlooked strip of floor in the house with this hand-knotted Koi runner rug in deep Moroccan wool. A shoal of stylised fish swims the length of a dark forest-green ground in pink, purple, cobalt, ochre, black and ivory, framed top to bottom by a blue-and-rust zigzag border. It is a contemporary take on Amazigh pictorial weaving, made by the El Abbassi family in their workshops in Morocco's Rabat-Salé region. The fish motif gives the runner a natural affinity for seaside and lake-house interiors, but it is far more versatile than that. Run it down a hallway by the front door, lay it in a galley kitchen, set it along a landing as a stair runner, or hang it as a tapestry above a bed or bench — the dense green ground is sturdy enough for the wall as well as the floor. Every knot is tied by hand on a wooden loom at ten to sixteen knots per square inch, far tighter than the loose weaves often sold as handmade. The wool is hand-dyed using a natural craft passed down through generations, so the olive-green ground shifts gently along the length rather than repeating mechanically. Hand-braided ivory tassels finish both ends, and a durable medium pile stands up to daily traffic. Wool is a forgiving fibre. Vacuum frequently, since runners take heavy footfall, and blot spills immediately with cold water and a mild soap. Secure it with a runner pad for safety, and treat it to a professional clean once or twice a year. The fibres only grow softer with age. Made to order in the length your hallway needs, this runner ships fully tracked. Free standard worldwide shipping is included on every order, with no minimum — order yours today.
