Berber Rug Handmade Majorelle Blue Wool Moroccan Carpet

$99.00

This handmade Berber rug carries the electric Majorelle blue of Marrakech into your home, hand-knotted from pure Moroccan wool by the El Abbassi family in their workshops in the Rabat-Salé region. Scattered lozenges, Amazigh crosses, zigzags and diamond chains drift across an open cobalt field in gold, turquoise, orange, purple, green and ivory, a geometric tribal design rooted in the Middle Atlas weaving tradition of Morocco's Berber artisans. Every knot is tied by hand on a traditional loom using hand-carded, hand-dyed wool, which is why each motif sits a little differently from one rug to the next. This slow, knot-by-knot craft gives the piece its soft, medium pile and its quiet irregularity, the honest signature of an authentic handwoven wool weave rather than a machine print. The flatwoven reverse shows the same pattern in fine blue and ivory rows. Style it as a conversation piece under a coffee table, anchor a bedroom beside the bed, or let it warm an entryway. The bold blue reads beautifully against pale walls, natural wood and rattan, and it plays just as happily in a modern, bohemian or mid-century room. A hand-tied ivory tassel fringe finishes both ends and frames the multicoloured border. Listed at roughly 8 x 5 ft, a generous size for a living-room seating area or the foot of a bed, this design can also be woven to your own measurements. Wool is naturally durable and stain-resistant: vacuum gently, blot spills with cold water and mild detergent rather than rubbing, rotate now and then to even out wear, and keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the vivid blue dye. Professional cleaning is recommended when it needs a refresh. Standard worldwide shipping is free on every order and already included in the price, with no minimum and no separate charge. Each rug is rolled, wrapped and dispatched with full tracking, so your handmade Moroccan Berber piece arrives ready to unroll and enjoy.

Every rug is made by hand in the El Abbassi family workshops in Morocco's Rabat-Salé region. See how our rugs are made
