8x10 Rug Handmade Boujaad Berber Wool, Ivory Tribal

$99.00

This 8x10 rug is a handmade Boujaad-style Moroccan carpet, hand-knotted in ivory wool and lit up with free-drawn columns of teal, mustard and magenta. It belongs to the Boujaad weaving tradition, the color-first, improvised branch of Amazigh (Berber) craft, and each carpet is knotted to order by the artisan women of the El Abbassi family in their workshops in Morocco's Rabat-Salé region. Every column keeps its own voice. A mustard zigzag twists beside a raspberry one near the top; a deep-pink block resolves into a navy diamond halfway down; a mint-green shape edged in charcoal pushes in from the left, and cobalt and crimson squares drop low toward the fringe. Nothing repeats exactly, because nothing was drawn twice. That is the signature of a genuine Berber rug: the pattern is remembered and improvised, not printed. The pile is worked in 100% natural sheep's wool, tied with a medium-to-high knot and finished at a thick, even medium height that feels cushioned underfoot. Colors come from organic dyes drawn from local plants and spices, so the palette stays soft and lived-in rather than synthetic. The natural lanolin in the wool helps the surface shed spills and hold its color for years, which is why hand-knotted carpets like this are passed from one generation to the next. Both ends are finished with a hand-braided cream fringe and a rust-and-cream striped selvage edge. This is the rug for a room that wants one confident thing. Set it under a beige or linen sofa in the living room and it carries the whole color scheme; lay it in a bedroom and the mustard and brick columns warm grey bedding and white walls. The ivory ground keeps it friendly beside modern, boho and eclectic furniture alike. At roughly 8x10 feet it anchors a seating area with the front legs of your sofa and chairs resting on the pile, defining an open-plan living room without crowding it. To care for it, vacuum gently without a beater bar, rotate it now and then to even out wear, and blot spills right away with a damp cloth; a professional clean handles the occasional deep refresh. Every order ships worldwide free, fully tracked, and included in the price — no minimum and no separate charge.

Every rug is made by hand in the El Abbassi family workshops in Morocco's Rabat-Salé region. See how our rugs are made
